The infrastructure for the Illinois Open Publishing Network has been developed as one part of the Publishing Without Walls initiative funded through the Mellon Foundation. For the period of the grant, IOPN’s development was guided in consultation with the grant team’s Research and Outreach working groups and the PWW Advisory Board. We continue to work with advisory groups specific to a follow-up grant and our textbook program. The library’s Repositories and Preservation group serves as an advisory body for all technical issues and related workflows and policy. Note that individual IOPN Journals have their own advisory bodies for editorial issues.
As the current grant period winds down in 2025, IOPN will establish a standing advisory board of researchers and related practitioners to take over the work of providing guidance to publishing operations overall, providing feedback on publication proposals, and connecting us to scholarly communities.
